Mail changes and important info
Today I went through with some long overdue changes on the Chillat.net sites dealing with how the various e-mail domains are handled.
The first and most important change is that we now have a proper webmail up and running at mail.chillat.net (with optional https support). This webmail is running RoundCube, which comes with a very nice "ajaxy" interface.
Just remember to log in with the full e-mail address as the account name.
The second change is that the certificates have been refreshed and are now properly signed by CaCert. This goes for both the web mail and smtp/imap/pop3.
And finally, the mail server has been changed to mail.chillat.net, so make sure to update it in your e-mail clients or you will receive warnings about the certificate domain not matching the actual domain.
Linea is back online
After a minor mishapp Linea is now back online. She decided to throw in the towel as the installation got corrupt due to some very unfortunate events during a distribution upgrade. Everything should however be back up and running now, including the jabber server.
Report any errors you get on the Chillat site in case we missed anything in the process.
DNS problems are still going on
This caused issues with the Jabber server, as it was all of a sudden unable to connect to the main database server.
The chillat.net jabber server is back to normal. The ownage.eani.net server however isn't.
Hopefully this issue will resolve itself shortly.
Power outage and DNS problems
We are back from all the trouble. This time a power outage blacked out half of Karlstad, including the Internet connection and the power supply to Tira. Now that's why we really need a UPS.
The DNS has also somewhat been bugging, probably due to some sort of overload at our DNS provider, afraid.org. Fingers crossed it will start working again soon.
Tira replaced
Tira has finally been replaced, let's all welcome Gaia to the family. Gaia has taken over the role of Tira as the main server of the Chillat.net empire and should be way more reliable.
